About the Opportunity

Burlington Berries is looking for 2 Machinery 2IC’s to join its team. The Machinery 2IC will assist the Machinery Manager in overseeing the machinery team and ensuring the maintenance of all plant equipment and business vehicles.

 

In your role as a Machinery 2IC, your duties will include but are not limited to;

  • Supervise and train team members
  • Perform regular inspections, servicing, and maintenance of machinery and vehicles
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues
  • Ensure routine maintenance and servicing of equipment
  • Use metal fabrication skills to modify and repair equipment
  • Utilise various welding techniques to join or repair metal components
  • Operate cutting tools such as plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene torches
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs
  • Manage inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and supplies, including procurement and coordination
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored

The work is indoors and outdoors and will be physically demanding. Some heavy lifting is required, and many tasks involve reaching your hands above your head and/or bending over for long periods of time. This is a labour-intensive role and work can become repetitive.

 

Work is expected to commence end of September and is of an ongoing nature.

 

About You

Candidates must be motivated and willing to work at a quick pace, with accuracy. Candidates must be flexible with their work hours and be able to work weekends at short notice. Successful candidates will be required to start early in the mornings on sunrise in a range of weather conditions, working an average of 38 hours per week.

 

No previous experience is necessary.

 

About the Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered permanent full-time employment on an ongoing basis for up to 4 years under the Horticulture Award. You will be paid a Level 4 hourly rate of $26.55 per hour.

 

Potential to upskill to other positions is not available.
