Burlington Berries is a large independent berry grower in Tasmania using innovative protected cropping technology.
The Agricultural Technician will be responsible in working with the team in the delivery of operational and technical outcomes in line with the crop production plan.
The role involves undertaking repairs and maintenance to a wide range of agricultural vehicles and equipment including tractors, trucks, headers and associated agricultural equipment.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnosing faults in diesel engines, transmissions and mechanical parts
• Dismantling and repairing engines, transmissions and mechanical parts
• Performing maintenance services on vehicles and agricultural equipment
• Testing and diagnosing vehicles and equipment for operational efficiency
• Undertaking repairs on farm
• Ordering spare parts for vehicles and equipment.
• Manage climatic conditions using infrastructure within the polytunnels.
• Assist in the development of the on farm trial site.
• Lead and direct the team to ensure safe day to day operations and WH&S standards are maintained.
• Assist with the daily repairs and maintenance schedule for all cropping/production fields.
• Complete timely and accurate data entry for software programs.
• Assist with monitoring labour and equipment cost tracking and provide regular reports to the management team.
• Seek opportunities for continuous improvement in the agricultural equipment and protected cropping systems
• Assist the financial manager with sectional budgets as required.
