Irrigationist

Burlington Berries is a large independent berry grower in Tasmania using innovative protected cropping technology to produce Strawberries, Raspberries and Blackberries.
The Irrigationist is responsible for overseeing the use of water resources to maintain soil/substrate health, and crops to maximise the growing of all crops and fruit production.

Key Responsibilities
• Determine hydraulic parameters for an irrigation system
• Implement an irrigation-related program
• Schedule irrigations
• Select and manage pumping systems for irrigation
• Interpret and apply irrigation designs
• Supervise irrigation system installations
• Supervise irrigation maintenance.
• Daily crop observations to ensure optimal fertigation programs.
• Record water and fertiliser use and report on for each crop type.
• Identify and report issue areas to the wider team to ensure timely corrections.
• Work within a seasonal roster to secure correct fertigation applications
• Ensure the technical team always operates in a safe way and lead improvements in managing key risk areas.
