About the Opportunity
Burlington Berries is looking for 4 Irrigators to join our team. In your role as an Irrigator, you will ensure all berry fields receive the correct irrigation and fertigation for your shift. You will combine the climate, crop stage and system considerations to deliver the best yield and fruit quality possible. The Irrigator will lead the team of irrigation support staff during their shift to ensure they have timely and accurate data on which to base decisions. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess and understand the climate/upcoming weather and its impact on irrigation and crop development
  • Crop walk and check key fields daily
  • Lead the wider irrigation team during their shift to ensure accurate and timely data
  • Monitor irrigation systems using software such as Priva and Agri-Tech
  • Adjust irrigation schedules to suit various crop growth stages and varieties to maximise quality and yield
  • Record and analyse data, comparing it with historical trends
  • Maintain and calibrate tools and sensors, ensuring accurate usage
  • Collaborate with irrigation managers/supervisors to communicate findings, address issues and implement best practices for system usage and maintenance.
  • Ensure water and fertiliser use is recorded and reported on for each crop type
  • Ensure fertiliser and system component stocktake is completed as required

Work is expected to commence early May and is of an ongoing nature.

About You
Candidates must be motivated and willing to work at a quick pace, with accuracy. Candidates must be flexible with their work hours and be able to work weekends at short notice. Successful candidates will be required to start early in the mornings on sunrise in a range of weather conditions, working an average of 38 hours per week. No previous experience is necessary.

About the Benefits
The successful candidate will be offered permanent full-time employment on an ongoing basis for up to 4 years under the Horticulture Award. You will be paid a Level 4 hourly rate of $25.66 (subject to wage increase in July 2025). 

Potential to upskill to other positions is available including an Irrigator with a more specialised focus area, Agronomist or Irrigation Manager.
